After 24 hours

Herpes Zoster

Herpes Zoster affecting eye

I see herpes zoster in my clinic now and then. Unfortunately pictures of the this lady is showing complete lack of knowledge by our General physicians. This is a medical and a dermatological emergency. We treat this condition on a very high priority because there is a chance of losing eyesight.

This patient presented in an emergency to my clinic, though seen by two other physicians in 48 hours prior to me. She was missed diagnosed and treated wrongly. Being on the verge of losing her eyesight, I had to start all anti viral medication very quickly. Fortunately she was very happy with the response. Looking after such patience give me great joy and the compliments I am accomplishment, I had to start all anti-viral medication very quickly. Fortunately she was very happy with the response. There are very few dermatological emergencies. However managing dermatological emergencies would need great deal of care, knowledge and skills. Herpes zoster is a dermatological and ophthalmological emergency. This condition would need joint care of two physicians.

I recommend that when you see a rash on face, please do not consult a general physician or a non-dermatologist. Most rashes on face are red in colour with itching and burning.
